Karlovac is the 9th largest city in Croatia and the political, cultural and economic center of Karlovac County. When you walk through the city for the first time, you will quickly see how charmingly, the historical-cultural heritage, nature, culture, and architecture are brought together, and they capture a story from some past times even today.<\/p>\n
Karlovac is rich in museums, churches, castles, rivers, bathing areas, beautiful gardens and promenades, parks, plenty of sports and recreational facilities and tourist attractions, both in the city center and in its immediate vicinity.<\/p>\n
Karlovac\u2019s parks and promenades are of great value to the city\u2019s residents and they are paying a lot of attention to them. The greenery, in general, is what characterizes Karlovac, which is confirmed by the number of parks in the city. Karlovac is the leader in Croatia by the number of parks considering its city area.<\/p>\n
Everyone who loves to spend the day outdoors and enjoy nature walks has to visit the Alley of maple leaf trees in Karlovac, which was planted by Napoleon\u2019s Marshal \u2013 Auguste Marmont back in 1809. The Marmont\u2019s Alley is 850 meters long and planted with 112 maple leaf trees.<\/p>\n
The promenade or today called the promenade of Dr. Franjo Tu\u0111man, is another popular place in Karlovac, located around the \u201cStar\u201d of Karlovac. The large promenade extends along 11 old houses that used to be civic houses in the second half of the 19th century, and the promenade is recognizable by the trees that are planted in five rows.<\/p>\n
Of the other green areas for walking in the city, the most striking are the Renaissance park located next to Karlovac University, the Black promenade, the Avenue of linden trees at the remains of the former fortress, the Arboretum at the Forestry School, the Modru\u0161an park and the inevitable Vrbani\u0107 park, which in its original idea was conceived as an outdoor botanical garden.<\/p>\n
What especially embellishes Karlovac and gives it a special charm is its history, which can still be observed today from old buildings, castles, and forts that resist the time even today.<\/p>\n
Some of these buildings and settlements are the \u201cStar\u201d of Karlovac, which was built in the shape of a six-pointed star to defend the city, at a time when the Turkish army threatened with attacks. Karlovac\u2019s Star also houses the Church of the Holy Trinity, which is also the oldest building in the city.<\/p>\n
The old town of Dubovac, which was once the capital of the Princes of Zrinski and Frankopan, who lived there during the 15th and 16th centuries, is also indispensable. The old town of Karlovac was created at the foot of Dubovac.<\/p>\n
He who loves history will be delighted by the fact that in Karlovac and its surroundings there are many remains of old medieval castles, forts and other buildings, the most attractive of which are Dubovac, Novigrad na Dobri, Ozalj, Ribnik, Bosiljevo fortress and the Pauline monastery in Kamensko which was founded by the Countess Catherine Frankopan.<\/p>\n
Rivers are what Karlovac is known for and why it is nicknamed \u201cthe city on four rivers\u201d. Namely, these are \u2013 Mre\u017enica, Korana, Kupa, and Dobra, which we could say represent the core of Karlovac as a city.<\/p>\n
Apart from the rivers, Karlovac also has a beautiful natural environment in which visitors can enjoy sightseeing or engage in one of many sports and recreational facilities because Karlovac is a city known for sports and sports achievements.<\/p>\n
Karlovac also houses the oldest music school in Croatia, founded back in 1804. and also the Zorin Dom City Theater opened in 1892. which gave a great impetus to the development of the art theater scene in Karlovac.<\/p>\n
All these are the reasons why we love Karlovac and why we need to preserve it.<\/p>\n
Karlovac je bogat muzejima, crkvama, dvorcima, rijekama, kupali\u0161tima, prekrasnim perivojima i \u0161etali\u0161tima, parkovima, obiljem sportsko rekreacijskih sadr\u017eaja i turisti\u010dkih atrakcija , kako u samom centru grada tako i u njegovoj bli\u017eoj okolici.<\/p>\n
Ono \u0161to stanovnici grada izrazito cijene i \u010demu obra\u0107aju veliku pozornost jesu karlova\u010dki parkovi i \u0161etali\u0161ta. Op\u0107enito zelenilo je to \u0161to karakterizira Karlovac \u0161to potvr\u0111uje i broj parkova po kojima\u00a0 prednja\u010di u Hrvatskoj s obzirom na svoju povr\u0161inu.<\/p>\n
Svi koji vole dan provesti na otvorenom i u\u017eivaju u u \u0161etnji po prirodi, definitivno moraju posjetiti Aleju platana u Karlovcu koju je jo\u0161 davne 1809. dao zasaditi Napoleonov mar\u0161al Auguste Marmont. Marmontova aleja duga je 850 metara i na njoj je posa\u0111eno 112 stabala javorolisne platane.<\/p>\n
Velika promenada, ili danas \u0161etali\u0161te doktora Franje Tu\u0111mana drugo je popularno \u0161etali\u0161te u Karlovcu, a nalazi se oko karlova\u010dke Zvijezde. Velika promenada prote\u017ee se uz 11 starih ku\u0107a koje su nekad u drugoj polovici 19. stolje\u0107a bile gra\u0111anske ku\u0107e, a promenada je prepoznatljiva po stablima koja su posa\u0111ena u pet redova.<\/p>\n
Od ostalih zelenih povr\u0161ina za \u0161etnju u gradom najupe\u010datljivi su renesansni park koji se nalazi uz karlova\u010dko veleu\u010dili\u0161te, Crna promenada, drvored lipa kod ostataka nekada\u0161nje tvr\u0111ave, arboretum kod \u0160umarske \u0161kole, Modru\u0161anov park te nezaobilazni Vrbani\u0107ev perivoj koji je u svojoj izvornoj ideji bio zami\u0161ljen kao botani\u010dki vrt na otvorenom.<\/p>\n
Ono \u0161to posebno krasi Karlovac i daje mu posebnu dra\u017e je njegova povijest koja se i danas mo\u017ee is\u010ditati iz starih gra\u0111evina, dvoraca i utvrda koje se jo\u0161 uvijek odupiru vremenu.<\/p>\n
Neke od tih gra\u0111evina i naselja su karlova\u010dka Zvijezda koja je naselje izgra\u0111eno u obliku \u0161esterokrake zvijezde u cilju obrane grada, u vrijeme kad su prijetili napadi od turske vojske. U sklopu karlova\u010dke Zvijezde nalazi se i crkva Svete Trojice koja je ujedno i najstarija gra\u0111evina u gradu.<\/p>\n
Neizostavan je i stari grad Dubovac koji je nekada\u0161nja prijestolnica knezova Zrinskih i Frankopana koji su tamo stolovali tokom 15. i 16. stolje\u0107a. Podno Dubovca i nastao je stari grad Karlovac.<\/p>\n
Tko voli povijest odu\u0161evit \u0107e ga \u010dinjenica da se u Karlovcu i njegovoj okolici nalazi mno\u0161tvo ostataka starih srednjovjekovnih dvoraca, utvrda i ostalih gra\u0111evina me\u0111u kojima su turisti\u010dki najatraktivnije Dubovac, Novigrad na Dobri, Ozalj, Ribnik, utvrda Bosiljevo te Pavlinski samostan u Kamenskom koji je osnovala grofica Katarina Frankopan.<\/p>\n
Rijeke su ono po \u010demu je Karlovac poznat i po \u010demu i nosi nadimak \u201cgrad na \u010detiri rijeke\u201d, a to su Mre\u017enica, Korana, Kupa i Dobra, koje mogli bismo re\u0107i i predstavljaju njegovu sr\u017e kao grada.<\/p>\n
Uz rijeke Karlovac krasi i prekrasno prirodno okru\u017eenje u kojemu posjetitelji mogu u\u017eivati u razgledavanju, ili bave\u0107i se nekim od niza sportsko rekreacijskih sadr\u017eaja, jer Karlovac je grad poznat po sportu i sportskim postignu\u0107ima.<\/p>\n
U Karlovcu se nalazi i najstarija glazbena \u0161kola u Hrvatskoj, osnovana davne 1804. Godine te tako\u0111er i Gradsko kazali\u0161te Zorin dom otvoreno davne 1892. Godine \u0161to je dalo veliki zamah razvoju umjetni\u010dko kazali\u0161ne scene u Karlovcu.<\/p>\n
